The Most Powerful Weapons In Anime, Ranked By Destructive Force

When it comes to the ultimate offensive devices, sheer power is always required. The strongest anime arms and devices pack enough power to not only defeat enemies with ease, but potentially doom everything around them - including those wielding them. Some devices, like the Bustermarm of Fairy Tail, are impossibly big and can cut through anything. Others, like the Punisher from Trigun, pack incredible power. Then there are the likes of Ea from the Fate series, which literally created - and can end - Earth itself. If you ever find yourself facing a device like these, you'd better hope your opponent doesn't know how to use it.

Ea, Sword Of Rupture - 'Fate'

Though technically a sword, Ea boasts more powers than merely the ability to slice and dice. Ea cannot be replicated, as it's made of materials that are not of this world. Powerful enough to end the entire planet, Ea created the world by cleaving it away from the heavens. Not only does it have these incredible primordial abilities, it holds knowledge of fundamental truths about the universe. Only one person, Gilgamesh, can truly wield this incredible sword.

The Silence Glaive - 'Sailor Moon Crystal'

The Silence Glaive is the only spear used by Sailor Saturn. Its abilities include conjuring force fields, creating blasts, and dooming entire planets. The glaive also causes worldwide earthquakes, massive gusts of wind, and ultimate demise. When Pharaoh 90 tries to absorb Earth, Sailor Saturn silently swings the glaive down to the ground, obliterating Pharaoh and Earth.

    Murasame - 'Akame ga Kill!'

Few devices match the formidable powers of the Murasame. The blade carries a toxic curse that stops a person's heart seconds after entering the body. With no antidote for it, the only way to survive an offensive strike requires amputating the afflicted body part before the curse reaches the heart. Murasame also possesses a trump card called Little War Horn, which activates when the user cuts themselves with the Murasame and successfully resists the toxin. This offers a short burst of power, but in exchange, the user experiences permanent chronic pain that remains even after the Murasame breaks.

    Tessaiga - 'InuYasha'

If you declare everlasting hatred for your brother over a sword, it had better be a pretty incredible sword. The Tessaiga, also known as the Iron-Crushing Fang, was forged using Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's father's own fangs as material. This sword, capable of slaying 100 yōkai (demons) with one strike, appears to have a mind of its own, telling its wielder when to strike a target. This incredible device is actually only half of a sword - its mate is the Tenseiga, which can conversely bring back 100 lives - arguably, an equally powerful ability. Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru's father divided up the blade and gave one to each son, hoping to teach them a specific lesson by its use.

    Sword Of Nunoboko - 'Naruto'

The Sword of Nunoboko is a sword of legend. With the tool in hand, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki formed Earth by cleaving it out of the ocean. Hagoromo's creation references a fabled device in Shintoism, Amenonuhoko. The gods also used such a blade to form the isles of Japan. In Naruto, this sword, which resembles a DNA strand, remains the most powerful to appear in the series.

    Death Scythe - 'Black Butler'

Only Grim Reapers wield such scythes, and they are every bit as powerful as that designation implies. The scythe can be used to view a human's Cinematic Record, which allows Reapers to decide whether or not a person deserves to live. If they decide to slay them, Reapers use the device to sever the connection between the person's soul and their body. More than merely tools of doom, the Scythes can also be used during a melee. They're powerful enough to cut through anything, including another Grim Reaper. The only thing impervious to their powers is another scythe.

Spear Of Longinus - 'Neon Genesis Evangelion'

The Spear of Longinus is one of the few devices capable of piercing AT Fields, powerful force-field barriers generated by Angels and Evangelions alike. What's more, the spear can also piece and immobilize beings with god-like power. Anything capable of incapacitating a god is a tool worth having.

    Yoru - 'One Piece'

Yoru is a beautifully decorated, seven-foot-long sword owned by Dracule Mihawk. Mihawk uses this ornate tool for everything from deflecting bullets to cutting through huge chunks of ice to literally slicing a ship in half. While some of this power stems from the skill of the wielder, the device itself is one of the sharpest, most powerful swords in all of anime.

    Caster Gun - 'Outlaw Star'

Though they look like useless antiques, Casters are actually quite formidable. These arms use specialized shells containing different kinds of mana spells. Each type of caster shell creates a different effect, ranging from electrocution to the creation of small black holes. What device can stand up to something with powers like that?

    Punisher - 'Trigun'

The Punisher is a cross-shaped arm wielded by Nicholas D. Wolfwood. A mere nine others of the same model exist. Wolfwood's Punisher consists of two automatic arms in the front and a rocket launcher in the back. It's hard to imagine anything non-magical packing more raw, physical power than the Punisher. Its only drawback is its weight, which Wolfwood claims derives from the fact that it is "full of mercy."
