    Momo Ayase - 'Dandadan'

Who Is She?: Raised by a spirit medium grandmother, Momo recently awakened psychic powers of her own. She uses them to help her alien-obsessed friend Okarun dispel a curse and deal with any other supernatural madness that comes their way. Why Fans Love Her: Momo is great for a lot of reasons. She has strong opinions, but she rolls with the punches and changes those opinions when she finds out she's wrong. She makes fun of Okarun but also makes it clear that she cares about him in her own way. Her gal-like fashion sense is creative and fun, and her developing psychic powers are badass.

Alya - 'Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian'

Who Is She?: Alisa "Alya" Mikhailovna Kujo is a half-Russian, half-Japanese girl who inspires obsessive love from her classmates. But she only has eyes for one person, with whom she flirts in Russian under the assumption that he doesn't understand her. Little does she know, he speaks Russian too. Why Fans Love Her: If you love characters who hide their true selves under a mask of indifference, you'll probably like Alya. Her icy exterior contrasts adorably with the affectionate things she says in Russian. Her silvery hair and jewel-like eyes are also very appealing to many fans.

Holo - 'Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf'

Who Is She?: Holo is a wolf spirit who once served as the wheat goddess for the town of Pasloe. When the town stopped caring much about bountiful harvests, she decided to hitch a ride with a traveling merchant to get back to her hometown. Why Fans Love Her: Holo is a whip-smart, snarky character whose personality is a great fit for her adorable appearance. It's also a lot of fun to watch her developing relationship with Kraft Lawrence and to see her explore the world of traveling sales.

Anna Yamada - 'The Dangers in My Heart'

Who Is She?: Anna Yamada is a middle school student who is popular for her good looks and cheerful personality. However, her happy demeanor can sometimes serve as a cover for deeper insecurities. Why Fans Love Her: Those deeper insecurities are what make her character so relatable. She's afraid of men and boys because she's had negative experiences with them, as they often only want to talk to her because she's attractive. For a lot of female viewers, that feeling is very real. It's nice to see her come out of her shell and be able to trust a boy who treats her well.

Yuki Itose - 'A Sign of Affection'

Who Is She?: Yuki Itose is a sheltered college student who wants to expand her world. People in her life can be a little overprotective because she's deaf. When she meets a world traveler named Itsuomi Nagi, who wants to learn sign language, she gets a chance to interact in a new way. Why Fans Love Her: Yuki is a sweet, bubbly person who is a great heroine for any shojo anime. What makes her a little bit different is her deafness. It's not presented as a problem, just one of her many traits. It impacts her ability to communicate and how others treat her, but it doesn't define her either.

Kikoru Shinomiya - 'Kaiju No. 8'

Who Is She?: Kikoru Shinomiya is the daughter of Defense Force Director General Isao Shinomiya, which led her to become a member of the Third Division. She's a prideful person who can sometimes border on being arrogant, but she does care about others deep down. Why Fans Love Her: One of the most interesting things about Kikoru is the extreme sense of personal responsibility that drives her. She feels as though she has to make sure the people she cares about don't get hurt, even to her own detriment. The contrast between this trait and her intense personality makes her a really compelling character.

Sawako Kuronuma - 'Kimi ni Todoke'

Who Is She?: At the start of Kimi ni Todoke, Sawako was a shy girl who had trouble connecting with her peers. When she met Shota Kazehaya, she was able to make friends and start relating to others in a way she couldn't before. As of Season 3, they are officially dating. Why Fans Love Her: Sawako is the epitome of kindness. She's so caring towards the people around her, and so genuinely well-meaning, that it's impossible not to want good things for her. Her awkwardness, though certainly present, is endearing. Also, even though she's been accused of looking like Sadako from The Ring, she's adorable.

Marcille Donato - 'Delicious in Dungeon'

Who Is She?: Marcille Donato is a half-elf mage who is a part of Laios' party. While Senshi and Laios are enthusiastically chowing down on dungeon food, she takes a more hesitant approach. Why Fans Love Her: Without Marcille, the rest of the group would probably have poisoned themselves to death ages ago. She's the only person who is willing to slow down and think things through. She's not perfect, though - she impulsively casts spells when she doesn't know what to do, and she's not always right to be cautious. But all that just makes her a more interesting, well-rounded character.

Anna Yanami - 'Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!'

Who Is She?: The first "losing heroine" introduced in the series, Yanami was in love with her childhood friend but had to accept that he was more interested in someone else. She loves eating, which is how she ended up becoming friends with Nukumizu - she makes him lunch to pay him back for a restaurant bill he covered when she forgot her wallet. Why Fans Love Her: Yanami is great because she's balanced. Not necessarily mentally - she has some pretty weird ideas about the world - but as a character. She's gone through some real hardship and has had to reflect on it, but she's also a funny person who doesn't take most things too seriously.

Rishe Irmgard Weitzner - '7th Time Loop'

Who Is She?: Rishe Irmgard Weitzner is a noble of the House of Weitzner in the Kingdom of Hermity. She has been repeating her life on a loop to prevent her demise at the age of 20. Why Fans Love Her: Anybody who is willing to repeat years of their life seven times, knowing that their life is in danger, is a seriously impressive person. Rishe is brave, independent, and clever - all traits she needs to survive.
