The 13 Strongest Guilds In Fairy Tail, Ranked by Power

Fairy Tail, the titular guild of the series, is considered to be the strongest guild in the entire Kingdom of Fiore. They’ve existed for several decades and enlisted over a hundred mages along the way; many of which where S-rank. Even after their shocking disbandment, the Fairy Tail Guild was able to retake their number one spot from the Sabertooth guild. Among the many mages that make up the Fairy Tail guild, the core cast has always consisted of Natsu Dragneel, fire mage/Dragon Slayer; the celestial deity summoner Lucy Heartfilia; the armor-loving warrior Ezra Scarlet, and the ice-casting exhibitionist Gray Fullbuster. When it comes to the strongest Fairy Tail guild member, these are just the tip of the iceberg.

Before Fairy Tail came back to reclaim its title, the Sabertooth guild was the strongest guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. Initially, the Sabertooth guild was regarded as one of the strongest guilds in the land. However, the ruthless actions of its former leader, Jiemma Orland, gave Sabertooth a damaging reputation. Master Jiemma had zero patience for anyone he considered to be weak and would excommunicate members who brought shame to the name Sabertooth in the most humiliating ways possible. After the disbandment of Fairy Tail, Sabertooth established a new reputation thanks to the enlisting of five powerful mages: Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney, the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth; Rufus Lore, The Minstrel Who Sings to the Red Moon; Orga Nanagear, the Lightning God Slayer, and Minerva Orland, the strongest mage of Sabertooth. Sting is the current guild master of Sabertooth.

Crime Sorcière is an independent guild made up of former Dark Mages looking for redemption. They’re on a mission to eradicate every Dark Guild they find and to stop Zeref Dragneel, the evilest mage of all time. The three founding members of Crime Sorcière are Jellal Fernandes, an astrology mage who actually tried to revive Zeref; Ultear Milkovich, a time-manipulating mage and the daughter of Ur, and Meredy, a mage that specializes in Maguilty Sense.

Lamia Scale is one of the strongest guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore. During the seven-year absence of the Fairy Tail guild, they were considered to be the second-strongest guild in Fiore, right after the Sabertooth guild. So much of Lamia Scale’s reputation as a powerhouse comes from its strongest member, Jura Neekis, who is one of the most powerful mages that make up the Ten Wizard Saints. That’s not to say Lamia Scale is filled with pushovers, as other members include Yuka Suzuki, who possesses the power to dispel magic, and Sherria Blendy, a woman who specializes in Sky God Slayer magic.

Mermaid Heel, one of the strongest legal guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore, is notable for being entirely comprised of women. During the Grand Magic Games of X791, Mermaid Heel defeated over 105 competing guilds to take the sixth spot in the preliminary event "Sky Labyrinth," and outranked the A-team of Fairy Tail, who came in at eighth. Out of all the members of Mermaid Heel, Kagura Mikazuchi is the strongest mage of the bunch, as she is on the same level as the S-class mage Ezra, and has the power to manipulate gravity.

Much like Raven Tail, Phantom Lord was another guild that was made to spite Fairy Tail. Specifically, the grudge former Blue Skull guild master Geoffrey had for the founding members of Fairy Tail. While Phantom Lord was never as strong as their rival, they were still a formidable guild to go up against. Much of this can be attributed to Phantom Lord guild master Jose Porla, who was a former member of the Ten Wizard Saints with the power of Iron Dragon Slayer magic. Phantom Lord also had five S-rank mages within the guild, four of which made up an elite elemental team called the Element 4. The disbandment of the Phantom Lord, however, meant they never got to grow in power like the other guilds.

More than just fashion trendsetters, the Blue Pegasus guild is a highly respectable guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. They were one of the four tasked with the destruction of the Oración Seis, which was a guild comprised of six all-powerful dark mages. Blue Pegasus also came in fifth in the preliminary event for the X791 Grand Magic Games. Members of Blue Pegasus have come from the playboys of The Trimens to even former members of Fairy Tail. Two mages that standout from Blue Pegasus are the Celestial Spirit mage Karen Lilica (former cover girl of Sorcerer Magazine) and Take Over mage Jenny Realight, who is the current Miss Fiore.

In essence, Raven Tail is the anti-Fairy Tail guild. Even the name “Raven Tail” is a knock against the meaning behind the name “Fairy Tail.” This all stems from Ivan Dreyar, a user of Shikigami Magic who founded Raven Tail after his father, Makarov Dreyar, excommunicated him from Fairy Tail. And just like Fairy Tail, Raven Tail is filled with powerful mages, such as Obra, who can instantly reduce a mage’s magic power to zero from a great distance. Other elite members include Flare Corona, a sadistic mage who can manipulate her long red-flamed hair, and Kurohebi, a mage who can mimic the magic of others.

Named after a mystical creature with a jewel on its head, the Carbuncle guild is best known for its abduction of Éclair and her sacred Phoenix Stone. In terms of power, Carbuncle was able to go toe-to-toe with some of the strongest mages of Fairy Tail. The guild consists of Dyst, a mage who specializes in telekinesis; Chase, a mage who can merge with the shadows; Cannon, who as you may have guessed, masters gun magic, and Coordinator, a female mage who can perform Requip like Erza.

Quatro Cerberus is a dog-centric guild that competed in the Grand Magic Games to be the strongest guild of Fiore. While they’re often the butt of the joke, Quatro Cerberus can back up their bark with their bite. The guild, after all, was founded by former Fairy Tail member Goldmine. As with their doggy attire, the magical capabilities of Quatro Cerberus can be unbelievably bizarre, such as the Tear Magic of Warcry.

Cait Shelter is a guild that actually isn’t a guild. Roubaul, a deceased member of the ancient tribe Nirvit, used his spiritual magic to remain in the world of the living until someone could destroy the Nirvana magic weapon that wiped out his people. Despite being dead, Roubaul was able to create countless illusions to make Cait Shelter look like a legal guild, which is impressive in its own right. Why? Roubaul pulled off the ruse because he didn’t want to disappoint a young Wendy Marvell, who found herself in his care.

While not a guild in the traditional sense, the Sylph Labyrinth guild is the strongest treasure hunting guild in the Kingdom of Fiore. Making up for their lack of magic, the members of Sylph Labyrinth are highly skilled in combat and weaponry. Hiroshi and Rala are melee fighters who respectively use a sword and a hammer, while guild member Drake is the sniper of the group.

The Southern Wolves are a duo of mercenaries who will hunt down any mage - good or bad - if the price is right. Making up the two-man guild are The Vanish Brothers, who are extremely arrogant and confident in their fighting skills. The two rely on their martial arts training and an array of magic-countering spells to take down their magical targets. In fact, the Southern Wolves look down on mages because they believe mages do not train their bodies for combat, which is proven wrong by the existence of Natsu.
