The 13 Best Anime Like The Devil Is A Part Timer

The Devil Is A Part Timer is one of the funniest anime to appear in the past decade. After Satan finds himself stranded on Earth with little magic, he needs to figure out a way to support himself and his henchman until they find a way to get back home. This means working at McDonalds - technically MgRonalds to avoid copyright infringement. Instead of taking over the world as he originally hoped to, Satan, now known as Maou, is trying to be the best employee the fast food joint has ever seen. The premise sounds wholly unique, but there are actually other anime like The Devil Is A Part Timer. I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job features prospective superheroes forced into low wage jobs after their training program is shut down, while Working!! shares its focus on the casual dining industry. Noragami

If you liked watching a deity do menial labor with a smile of his face in The Devil Is A Part Timer, you'll probably appreciate seeing the same thing in Noragami. Yato is a minor deity who does odd jobs in order to earn enough money to build himself a shrine where followers can worship him. It's a slow and painful process to gain the power he craves, but he'll do it... maybe. Someday. Probably around the same time Maou actually gets around to taking over the Earth.

    One-Punch Man

Though One Punch Man and The Devil Is A Part Timer seem different at face value, their protagonists have a lot in common. Both Saitama and Maou are laid-back guys who get oddly passionate about specific things that don't quite align with their incredible abilities. Both of them have faithful sidekicks who admire their powers but sometimes question their attitude. Both shows also share a similar style of irreverent humor while also carrying a somewhat serious plot.

    Blood Lad

Blood Lad and The Devil Is A Part Timer both deal with supernatural beings coming face to face with Japanese culture. While Maou is a demon who once held ambitions of world domination but ends up getting sidetracked by his fast food career, Staz Charlie Blood is a vampire who is supposed to be managing territory and gulping down human blood, but cares about little other than anime, manga, and Japanese culture.

I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job

After the Demon King is defeated, the Hero Training program is suspended, which means that would-be heroes need to change their career plans, fast. For some, this means getting mundane retail jobs that don't really suit their personalities but are the only way that they're going to make rent. This is pretty similar to Emilia's predicament - she's a former hero whose goal is to take out Satan, but she ends up trapped on Earth and working at a call center to make ends meet. This show is arguably the most similar to Part-Timer out of any on the list, so if you really loved everything it had to offer, your next stop should be I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job.

    Demon King Daimao

Demon King Daimao is what you'd get if a human from The Devil Is A Part Timer were sent to Maou's world. Akuto doesn't want to be a Demon King, but fate doesn't care what he wants. Despite his reluctance, he's continuously pushed toward the position - and slowly surrounded with attractive girls, some of whom want to destroy him, some of whom want to adore him. It's an awkward position, but one that he must accept.

    Aesthetica Of A Rogue Hero

In a world where teenagers are occasionally sent to other worlds to defeat enemies, Akatsuki takes down the Demon King, and returns with the King's daughter, Miu. Miu just wants to live an ordinary, peaceful life on Earth, but to accomplish this, she has to keep her identity a secret and live as Akatsuki's sister. If this sounds a lot like Maou's situation, that's because it is - the major difference is that part of Maou actually does want to return to his own world, whereas Miu really just wants to cut her losses.

    Beelzebub

Tatsumi Oga is the most talented and aggressive fighter at Isayama High School, and that's his entire life's focus... until he gets charged with the care of Baby Beel, also known as the son of Satan. Though powerful enough to create all kinds of chaos, Beel is in many ways just an innocent baby who needs care and attention - which means that Oga is going to have to make some major changes, fast. Much like Maou, Beel is supposedly there to take over Earth, but he can't actually do that until he's gained more experience existing as a human.

    Maoyu Maou Yusha

Humans and demons have been at war for 15 years, a fact which prompts Yuusha, the Hero, to seek out the Demon Queen, Maou, and take her out himself. What he finds is nothing like what he expected. The Demon Queen is a stunningly beautiful woman who wants to negotiate a peace deal that will end the war without destroying the economy in the process. The two join forces to create a new era of peace. Though their relationship is a bit more dramatic than that between the hero and the Devil in Part-Timer, it's a bond across borders that's worth paying attention to.

    Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

Watching denizens of another world try to navigate Earth can be pretty entertaining, and it's one of the more fun parts of The Devil Is A Part Timer. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid takes the concept and applies it to dragons. Tohru is a dragon from another realm who pledges herself to act as a maid for a nerdy office worker named Kobayashi. Despite her humanoid form, blending in isn't exactly easy when you wash clothes with your spit and try to serve your own tail as a meal. The show is by turns hilarious and heartwarming, so check it out.

    Squid Girl

Squid Girl is literally The Devil Is A Part-Timer except with squids. The titular Squid Girl fully intends to destroy humanity, but she gets completely sidetracked by her job as a waitress and by the various pleasures and distractions of life on Earth. Taking over the world is totally going to happen, just... later. After she finishes her favorite video game or her next shift.
