But others prefer to use the weapon as is, like Maes Hughes of Fullmetal Alchemist who uses his push blades in lieu of alchemy. Keep in mind, we aren't looking at just any cutlery or sharp weapon — so characters with a cleaver, axe, machete, scythe, grappling hook, swords, and so on won't appear here, but with the proper techniques, even a kitchen knife is more than enough for the strongest names on this list to amp up the action. These characters are sure to leave you on the edge of your seat with their expert knife skills and thrilling battles. Which of these characters would you not want to face in a knife fight? Juuzou Suzuya - 'Tokyo Ghoul'

In the world of Tokyo Ghoul, ghoul hunters use weapons called quinques, which are made from the kakuhou of a captured ghoul. This makes them far more powerful than ordinary weapons. Juuzou Suzuya's quinques take the form of various switchblades, which are collectively called the Scorpion 1/56. He keeps them in his shirt, and later in his prosthetic leg. Juuzou is highly skilled with his weapon, but he didn't earn it or make it himself - he straight up stole it.

Himiko Toga - 'My Hero Academia'

As a member of the League of Villains, Himiko Toga is technically fighting to bring down hero society - but she's a lot more interested in getting her hands on the blood of the people she finds most compelling. She needs the blood so that she can eat it and activate her quirk, Transform, which allows her to change her exterior to resemble the person the blood came from. How does she get the blood? With a knife, of course!

    Izaya Orihara - 'Durarara!'

Izaya Orihara is a villainous person whose goals more or less boil down to watching other people's reactions to his chaotic behavior. However, his weapon of choice is actually a pretty simple one: he uses a flickblade. Not only does he use it in combat, he also once used it to shave somebody's head.

    Maes Hughes - 'Fullmetal Alchemist'

Most people remember Maes Hughes for his passionate love for his family, but Elycia and Gracia aren't the only things he loves - he also loves a good push knife. It's not that he won't use a gun or any other weapon, but he favors blades in his work for the Amestrian State Military. You gotta stand out somehow when everybody else is using alchemy.

    Hei - 'Darker Than Black'

Thanks to his electrical powers, Hei is able to use his blade in a unique way. His weapon is equipped with a wire, which he funnels electricity through in order to attack his enemies with not just a slash but a shock as well. He also uses the thing as a grappling hook, because why not.

    Dracule Mihawk - 'One Piece'

Dracule Mihawk is known as the "Strongest Swordsman in the World" but that doesn't mean he can't also wreak havoc with a smaller blade. The guy once defeated Zoro using only a small dagger, which he's been using on his dinner. This dagger is typically worn around his neck in a cross pendant, and it's one of his most formidable weapons.

Dio Brando - 'JoJo's Bizarre Adventure'

The big bad of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is actually only seen using his signature weapon once - he doesn't exactly need them when he's an immortal vampire with a powerful Stand. Still, these weapons have become inextricably linked with his character. Dio is overjoyed by his throwing knives, which he is able to manipulate into perfectly hitting their targets by using his ability to stop time.

    Yuno Gasai - 'Future Diary'

Yuno Gasai doesn't necessarily prefer small blades, but she sure does use them. She's not adverse to using knives, axes, swords, pistols and submachine guns, or really anything that will keep other people's mitts off of her precious Yukiteru. That said, she's handy enough with a knife that she can easily block a barrage of throwing knives - and her skills only grow more powerful when she's encouraged by praise from her beloved.

    Tenten - 'Naruto'

If she chose to, Tenten could easily learn a wide range of chakra-based techniques that wouldn't require the use of a weapon. But Tenten isn't interested: in fact, the only techniques she seems to care about are scroll seals in which she stores her various blades. She loves anything sharp and steely, be it the disposable kunai used by all ninja to legendary swords.

Palm Siberia - 'Hunter X Hunter'

As a human, Palm Siberia consistently carries a set of blades around with her. She uses them to intimidate others, or to actually attack them. Once, when fighting Gon and Killua, she ties several knives into her hair. After Palm Siberia is reborn as a Chimera Ant, her fondness for the weapon goes by the wayside. Who needs it when you have super strength?
