A driver who died in a two-car crash in Angus on Thursday has been named by police.

He was 34-year-old Michael Cruickshank, who lived in the Alyth area.

He was driving a white Audi A1 when it was involved in a crash with a dark-coloured Ford Focus on the A94 near Glamis.

A statement from his family said: "Michael will be missed by many. We would like to thank everyone for the messages received so far and now need privacy while we come to terms with our loss."

Police said the 22-year-old male driver of the Ford Focus was taken to hospital where his condition was described as "serious".

"Our inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing. Anyone who has not already spoken to officers and can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland."
