Manchester United snatched a 4-4 draw with Aston Villa on Sunday after trailing 4-2 in stoppage time. Substitute Joshua Zirkzee sparked a comeback for Michael Carrick's under-pressure side with a goal that cut the deficit. United remain 18th in the Premier League, while Villa are 10th.

At Old Trafford, United were 0-2 down inside four minutes. Alysson made it 0-1 in the second minute, shooting through the legs of an unconvincing Senne Lammens.

Nicolas Jackson added to United's misery, with Lammens again looking poor. The Belgian made a weak save from Alysson's strike, allowing the Senegalese player to tap in the rebound.

Still, United fought back to level before half-time. Bruno Fernandes cut the deficit from the penalty spot.

On the stroke of half-time, the home fans celebrated again. Youri Tielemans scored from a cross by Noussair Mazraoui, who had pushed forward.

United fell behind again almost immediately after the break. John McGinn scored a penalty, then Leon Goretzka pounced on a goalmouth scramble to score.

In stoppage time, substitute Zirkzee gave United hope. The striker met Patrick Dorgu's cross with his left foot and scored.

Dorgu then sent the crowd into bedlam in the 97th minute, scoring the equaliser after a blunder by goalkeeper Zion Suzuki: 4-4.
